Goring Gap Beach is a beach that lies in the gap between Goring and Ferring and is part of a long stretch of West Sussex beach. The beach is popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers, especially when the wind picks up, as the grass makes it an ideal set up. Goring Gap is also popular for horse riding and welcomes dogs all year round.

Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens is described as ‘The Finest Woodland Gardens in England’. Its rich history dates back to when it was first planted in 1801. The Grade I listed gardens set within a valley, on the 240-acre estate feature outstanding scenery throughout the year that is particularly majestic as it blooms in spring or takes on the glorious colours of autumn.

No trip to West Sussex is complete without visiting the magnificent Arundel Castle. Set high on a hill in West Sussex, this great Castle commands the landscape with magnificent views across the South Downs and the River Arun. Built at the end of the 11th century by Roger de Montgomery, Earl of Arundel, the castle has seen sieges battles and even a visit from Queen Victoria. Today, you can explore the extensive grounds and perfectly-kept gardens – the Stumpery Garden is a unique, magical spot with a woodland garden feel.

Experience the thrill of the dawn chorus and wild animals undisturbed in their natural habitat with a Dawn Safari at Knepp Estate. Set out on foot at 5am with your guide in search of roe deer, fallow deer, Exmoor ponies, longhorn cattle, weasels, foxes, badgers and turtle doves. End it all at 7am with a steaming mug of tea and bacon roll (made with Wild Range Tamworth bacon from the estate).

Warham Nature Reserve is a 92-acre site with millpond, marshes, grassland and woodlands. The new Warnham Discovery Trail follows the paths and boardwalks that surround the millpond. The site is a haven for wildlife, with over 400 species of plants and over 100 species of birds.

Fishers Farm Park is consistently voted as one of the top family days out in West Sussex, this park, just five-minutes’ drive from Billingshurst, has it all. Open all year round, there’s pony and tractor rides, Devil’s Dyke Descent, Higgledy Village Play Barn, jumping pillows, animal shows and handling and lots of opportunities to reconnect with nature.
